SCROLL DOWN

Interconnection through Dissections

Interconnection Through Dissections is re-work of a stage performance. By juxtaposing different moment quality from different sections, rapid cuts, and utilizing the sound of the bodies falling, the screendance achieves its own identity and dynamics that the stage version was missing.

The Rhythm of O

The Rhythm of O

The Rhythm of O pays homage to the beautiful architecture of The Sun Tunnels by land artist Nancy Holt, who built the installation in hope that it transcends our perception of space and time, earth and sky. Four dancers explore not only the beautiful landscape, but also the rhythm of moving bodies aided by the tunnels' dynamic reverb.

Mist

Mist

Set in the University of Utah's Marriott Library, Mist is an interpretation of Maya Deren's editing technique that she used to transcend space and time. By cutting on motion from one location to another, the dancer is perceived to be transported to a new environment while performing an action.

The Girl in The Photographs

The Girl in The Photographs

The Girl in The Photographs is a narrative about a photographer and a mysterious woman who keeps appearing in his photos. Using adapted text and abstract movement, the film is a social comment on voyeurism and the practice of looking that often objectifies women in the photography world dominated by male.

The Advent of Two

The Advent of Two

The Advent of Two follows two dancers navigating through the choreographer's rented home in Salt Lake City. Employing frames within frame, the screendance is a one take transitioning smoothly between the two dancers while they are exploring the house.
